During its third instalment, the Bank Windhoek Ramblers Under 21 Soccer Tournament continued to provide excellent soccer entertainment over the weekend. Hosts Ramblers put six goals passed Fortis while Athletic Club Football Academy (ACFA) began their campaign on a winning start. The team made its long-awaited start to the tournament when it took on Kaizen Football Academy (KFA).
KFA, who looked to build on their match day one victory, began the game with a lot of positive intent to win. Still, ACFA got a grip of the game, and a perfectly executed goal from Shane Schmidt was enough to give Coach Ricky Averia and his boys the winning start they needed.
Friday’s second game saw the new boys, Namib Colts, come from two goals down against Deutscher Turn und Sportverein (DTS) to earn a hard-fought point. Eli Tjiunde’s brilliance inspired his teammates to avoid defeat to DTS. Saturday saw Ramblers completely dominate Fortis in a master-class performance by the boys in blue. Last year’s finalists won the game 6:2 to put them in an excellent position to qualify for the semi-finals. The final game of the match day saw Sport Klub Windhoek (SKW) take on Swallows in a game that proved enjoyable for the spectators. SKW stormed into an early two-goal lead via their talisman, Owen Uzazi but goals from Aloyscious !Goagoseb and substitute Giovanni Wambo earned Swallows a point in a great contest between the two teams.
Next on the Bank Windhoek Ramblers Under 21 Soccer Tournament is match day three, which will take place on Thursday, 18 May 2023, from 14:00. The Bank Windhoek Ramblers Under 21 Soccer Tournament gives further exposure to youth academy players who could not play in the Second Division, First Division, or Premier leagues of the Namibian soccer calendar. The tournament is being hosted at the Ramblers Sports Ground in Windhoek.
End.
